When D is supposed to take a nap, he tends to play for a little while before he finally goes to sleep. The other day, we went in to wake him from his nap, and this is what we found.
He told us he was playing robot.
Later he took the boxes and buckets and built a "spaceship" He was very worried because it didn't have any wings. He even did a count down, but nothing happened. Very disappointing. I was pretty excited because I'd never heard him count backward without any help before.
That same day, A had a friend over to play this war game. They make up armies before they meet for war. Then they put little army pieces on a huge table and go for it. They have to measure how far the pieces move and how far the can shoot and so on. They roll dice to see if their attacks worked. The game lasts anywhere between 5-10 hours depending on army size and questions over rules. Here is what they spent half the game doing.
They had to verify rules. As you can see the rule book is pretty thick considering it is supposed to be a fun little game. A loves playing with his friends, so I put up with it. Luckily, he usually only plays about once a month.

i love your robot-boy...super cute. That's how my little one looks after lasagna too - at least they're eating semi-healthy :)
I laughed RIGHT OUT LOUD at the robot-in-the-crib picture. That is adorable.
